Re: Don't Delay Dealing with Error
When unbelievers try to sway any fellowship away from God's Word, true
believers must insist that they repent or leave. If they allow the evil
to gain sufficient strength to force "dialogue" over clear scriptural
matters, they will have already lost the battle. Either cast them out
immediately, or risk having to fight for truth against terrible
odds....
--Calvary Contender, adapted
But if error is already entrenched... "As soon as I saw, or thought I
saw, that error had become firmly established, I did not deliberate,
but quitted the body at once. Since then my one counsel has been,
"Come ye out from among them."
--Spurgeon
"..deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so
that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus...purge out
the old leaven so that you may be a new lump...now I have written to
you not to associate intimately, if any man CALLED A BROTHER and is
either a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a
drunkard, or an extortioner; with such a one not to eat. ...therefore
PUT OUT FROM YOU the evil one." (~1Cor5:5-13)
In the O.T. "..that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to
death, because he has spoken to turn you away from the LORD your God.."
(Deu13:5)
In the N.T. "..if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it to the
church. But if he neglects to hear the church, let him be to you as a
heathen and a tax-collector." (Mt18:17)
Otherwise:
"..come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord, and do not
touch the unclean thing. And I will receive you.."(2Cor6:17)
"..come out of her, My people, that you may not be partakers of her
sins, and that you may not receive of her plagues." (Rev18:4)
