*** MORSEL EXTRAS***
Re: My Sins, Atonement & God's Mercy
During my private prayer I remembered my impatient speech today, and
this brought before me my sins in so clear a light, and with a deep
feeling of sorrow and abhorrence. It showed me so clearly the necessity
of an atonement, and the greatness of God's mercy, and that we live
entirely by the grace of God, and are unworthy. I thought within
myself, How instructive are our failures...! But this is by no means to
encourage us in carelessness.
--Philip M. Hahn, diary entry Feb. 8, 1786
Have mercy upon me, O God, According to Your lovingkindness; According
to the multitude of Your tender mercies, Blot out my transgressions.
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin. For I
acknowledge my transgressions, And my sin is always before me.(Ps51:1-3
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will
guide you with My eye. Do not be like the horse or like the mule,
Which have no understanding, Which must be harnessed with bit and
bridle, Else they will not come near you. (Ps 32:8-9)
For God has committed them all to disobedience, that He might have
mercy on all. Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and
knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past
finding out! (Rom 11:32-33)
Jesus said... "Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more."(Jn8:11)
But He knows the way that I take; When He has tested me, I shall come
forth as gold. (Job23:10)
