*** MORSEL EXTRAS***
Re: Loving God
I found that I loved Christ dearly. Oh but my soul cleaved to him, my
affection cleaved to him. I felt my love to him as hot as fire. But I
quickly found that my great love was but little, and that I who had, as:
thought, such burning love for Jesus Christ could let him go again for a
trifle. --John Bunyan
O Christian! study what love is...in the Word, in Christ, in
God...[and] thou wilt learn to acknowledge that he that loveth not hath
not known God. And thou wilt learn, too, to admit more deeply and truly
than ever before, that no effort of thy will can bring forth love; it
must be given thee from above. --Andrew Murray
He said to him again a second time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love
Me?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to
him, "Tend My sheep." (John 21:16)
And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is
love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. Love
has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the
day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. We love
Him because He first loved us. (1 John 4:16-19)
By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and
keep His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His
commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. For whatever is
born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has
overcome the world; our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but
he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? (1 John 5:2-5)
