Date of the Rapture?
However, everything so far has happened "right on schedule" in accordance with the JEWISH FEASTS. Passover - Unleavened bread - Firstfruits was fulfilled when Jesus died - was buried - rose again. 50days (Pentecost) was fulfilled in Acts 2 when the Holy Spirit came to begin the Church. What's left to fulfill is the "Feast of Ingathering at the end of the year." (Ex23:16) It consists of Trumpets, Atonement, Tabernacles (Lev 23) These three would seem to correspond to Rapture, Wrath (Jacob's Trouble for 7 yrs), "Kingdom" (1000 years).
But..."which" calendar do we go by? Which one/s are accurate? They have changed so many times...as empires and rulers changed. And there are different "kinds." Our months vary from 28-31 days. The Jewish month was 30 days. And how do we know "which" records are accurate? And, if Rosh Hashanah is schedule for 9/21/98 this year...is that the accurate date for the Rapture? It's possible. But, over the millenia, perhaps the months have gotten "off" somehow? Maybe it would be October, or November instead? Or August? Or, maybe it will correspond to "40 days" after resurrection, when Jesus ascended to heaven (Acts1:9) And as He is prophesied to come back to the Mt. Olives at the end of "Jacob's Trouble"...perhaps the 7 years begins related to "that" event? Or, perhaps the Rapture happens then, with a few months intervening before the 7 years begin at Rosh Hashanah?
No. I can't set any dates for you. Perhaps what I've said here gives you an idea of how I wonder about this or that. But what we are told is to be "ready." (Lk12:40) "because the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect." So...perhaps "all" of these ideas I've just speculated are "wrong"? We are called to be faithful. (1Cor4:2)
How to recognize Jesus?
After reading this passage I began to fear for the day to come to face God Almighty. How will I know it's God Almighty one and not the devil disguse himself to me?
In that day... "one shall say to him, What are these wounds between your hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was struck in the house of those who love me. (Zec13:6 -Lit)
After His resurrection "Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, 'Peace with you.' ...and "He showed them His hands and His side..."(Jn20:19-20) And yet, to Thomas He said, "Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed."(vs29)
Paul tells us that "Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light." (Think about all these "out-of-body" experiences and visions where people see "bright lights" or "streams/rays" of light/love; and then come back preaching a message of "love" ..without repentance.) And that "his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness." (2Cor11:14-15) But keep in mind that, underneath that facade of "sheep" is a "savage wolf." (Mt7:15, Acts20:29)
How well do you "know" Jesus? "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. (Jn10:27) "Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers." (Jn10:5) What is the purpose of the edifying of the "Body" of Christ? For us to mature to unity in Doctrine (1Cor1:10) and "of the KNOWLEDGE of the Son of God." (Eph4:13) Paul's goal was "that I may know Him.." (Phil3:10)
Just some musings here...
Even though it happens all the time, it still amazes me when thoughts on a particular topic converge from various sources at the same time. The above topic of the "date" for the Rapture. The concurrent mailing about "Time Lines" for the Covenant series. Monday, the printing and preparing of the August article for the postal mailings (which you'll receive e-mail next week-end) and reminiscing over its topic (which was written back in May). And yesterday, as I was coming in to work, this overwhelming "sense" of ..."we're in count-down mode!"
There was an "impression" I "wondered" about a couple/few years ago. ('don't know if it was from the Lord...but, an impression) The running of this business has been the Lord's doings. A life of faith. And several particulars have been very clearly defined as having specific significance for certain specific people. The impression a few years ago was wondering "if" when the time began to draw close for the Lord to "receive" the Church to Himself (Jn14:3), "if" certain conditions would begin to manifest themselves in terms of the business. (I will not share details) Well, those "conditions" have been in such a mode now for a few months. And yesterday morning, this "count-down" idea was very strong in my mind...
Then, last night a thought popped into my head. Thinking about this Y2K problem that has everybody so worked up...and has many "christians" all scared and petrified.
"And another shall rise after them; he shall be different from the first ones..he shall speak pompous words against the Most High...and shall intend to change times and law..." (Dan7:24-25)
I have often wondered about that verse "why" anybody would seek to "change times." The problem with Y2K is about "computers and dates." From some who write programs, apparently there is an indication, also, of a potential problem, even, when September, 1999 comes along...due to software seeing "999" and wanting to shut the computer down..because of how code is written..? (I don't understand it - I'll take their word for it.)
What if...there is no software-based solution? What if.. the only way to keep the world economy, operations, defense, etc. from going cataclysmic, is to make an "official change" of what we LABEL the year to be...so the computers will "see" things in a way that they can function? When that happens; inflation, interest rates, monetary values will all, of course, be totally shifted. (That won't matter much, since we haven't been using "real money" for many years, now, anyway!) Thus, making the time primed for the "mark" which everyone receives to be able to buy or sell, to be compatible with this totally new financial system.(Rev13:17)
I don't know if anyone else has proposed or thought of this idea. But, perhaps the solution for the "millenium bug" is the fulfillment of that spot in Daniel?
Interesting thoughts, eh!
But there is no excuse for "Christians" being frightened. A true Believer won't be here. In corresponding with a friend recently upon finishing the Covenant series, I said some things I'd like to share with you all...
But...speaking of "rapture" ...i don't see how, if a person truly
understands "what" the time of Wrath is all about, how they could
possibly conclude that the Church is to go through it! Set aside all
the little proof texts we continually speak of...forgetting all the
little grammatical syntax which helps a person understand "this...THEN
this....THEN that..." when a person sees the overall BIG picture,
even... it just doesn't fit. The characteristic of the Church is
"righteousness." The time of Wrath is to judge "unrighteousness"...
both of satan, Babylon and Israel. The Church "doesn't belong" there.
It's not even a matter, as the nay-sayers say...of us "not wanting" to
be there...we don't belong. .... The more I get these e-mails from the
false-prophets to try to change me...the more I realize how important a
point this is for Christians to understand correctly. It is something
Satan "really doesn't like" ....that the Church won't be there for his
last big fling. Thus, he's got his "prophets" out in full force...!
If you are "fearful" about the coming days, may I strongly urge you to verify your standing before God Almighty and His Son Jesus Christ. If you "fear", you have not been made "perfect" in love. (1Jn4:18) This is the love which caused God to give "His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." (Jn3:16)
To the Believer Jesus says, "Let not your heart be troubled...I will come again and receive you to Myself." (Jn14:1,3) The True Believer is "looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing (not "coming") of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ. (Tit2:13) as "we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them (the dead who were "just" resurrected) in the clouds (not landing on the Mt.Olives - to Israel) to meet the Lord in the air..." (1Ths4:17)
