Q/A Topic: VW's Church Affiliation?
What church is this website with???

The church of Jesus Christ. Of those who are "a people for His name."(Acts15:14) Of those who have been "washed..from our sins in His own blood" (Rev1:5) Of those who have "come out of her, my people" (Rev18:4) Of those who have received the "Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out 'abba Father.'"(Rom8:15) Of those whom Jesus promised, "I will come again and receive you to Myself." (Jn14:3) Of the "bride" who say, "Come!" (Rev22:17)

that was a rather sarcastic answer? I don't mean the Church as a whole! What church are you with?

No...it was a Most Serious answer. (Rev18:4)

I grew up as the son of an "interdenominational" missionary. Once back in the USA, I have affiliated (years ago) with several "brands" and went to an interdenominational Bible School. But it would do no good to "name" those brands and institutions because they are no longer what they once were. And, the "watering down" they caused in me back then is no longer in effect, as I am no longer, either, what I once was.

But, the answer to your question is as I gave it in the other note. I am with the Church which Jesus established. (Mt16:18) And that "Church as a whole" must be clearly defined as I did briefly, because many different people claim to be of "the church." They claim to be "Christian." So, for the question as to what "Church" this website is affiliated with, my first answer is "the" answer.

1) You really don't like churches being denominations do you? I can't say I blame you.

2) This is the very reason I asked who you were "with" so I might know your doctrine or error.

3) Sorry if I irritated you, but I am always concerned when someone claims no fellowship. I see now that you have some fellowship and are a bit of a separtist.

1) Well, Paul responded to the Corinthian church and its sectarianism, "I am of Paul, ...of Apollos, ...of Peter, ...of Christ."(1Cor1:12) And he goes on to ask, can any of these "people" save you?

Now...he had started this discussion with the plea, "by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment."(vs10) These words "mind" and "judgment" are the root concepts for "Doctrine." i.e. "Teaching." And isn't that what makes for "different" denominations? Different teaching? There is only "one Lord, one [FAITH], one baptism."(Eph4:5)

2) Not to be snide (lest you misunderstand)... looking for "labels" will not tell you if doctrine is sound or in "error." Only God's Word will do that.(2Tim3:16-17) A person must be a "Berean." The people from Berea "received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so." (Acts17:11) They did not ask for labels.

Had I resorted to labels (only) when I moved to where I now live, for example, I could now easily be in a NewAge Psycho-babel church. Traditionally the GARBC used to be known, by their "label", for being sound in God's Word. When I first moved here, I visited one of the local GARBC churches because of its "label", but did not attend again. The Spirit did not witness that it was a "good" place. Now, recently (10 years later) my discernment of that time has been proved more visibly. They now engage in all sorts of psychology workshops...and have also changed the name of the church to be more "user friendly." (ed. That's this "local" church. I have no recent up-to-date knowledge of the GARBC denomination as a whole.)

When you first wrote, I "knew" you were trying to ascertain the truth or error of VW, looking for a label by which to pigeon-hole this ministry. That's why I answered as I did. (ed. which is also why we don't publish an official "Doctrinal Statement") The label will do you no good. Rather; what do we teach? ...and compare it with Scripture. Before Jesus was crucified, the judging authorities wanted a "label" they could pin on Him. And Jesus responded, "Why do you ask Me? Ask those who have heard Me what I said to them. Indeed they know what I said." (Jn18:21)

3) "Irritated?" No way. I realize I didn't give you the answer you were expecting, or hoping for. ...purposefully. (I expect these answers have, likely, irritated you slightly?) As for "no fellowship" ...well, there are quite a few people on VW's mailing list who are "without" fellowship. They simply haven't found anybody of like precious faith with whom to fellowship. As was the case for Elijah, for some, apparently, it is "enough" to know that others are "out there." (1Kg19:18) We are "individually" lights in a dark world.(Mt5:14)

Yes...a "bit" of a separatist.

"Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people." Therefore "Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you." "I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the LORD Almighty." (2Cor6:14-18)
