Oprah's 'G-O-D' god! (Oprah's final show)
Are the incessant promos finally over??? Where Oprah has been promoting the "farewell" season, where she has reviewed some of her Faaaaaaavorite moments.
The evening news mentioned Wednesday being Oprah's 'last' show, and so after the vw mailing was done, and I had replied to an e-mail, computer turned off, decided to catch the last half of the hour. 'Had to -force- myself, really. But thought I 'should' be "informed" as to what she might have to say.
Nothing 'new', really. Mostly -confirmation- of what I've been observing over the years the few snippets I would happen to tune in and watch a few minutes here and there. (The Lord seems to 'time' when I "happen" to come upon certain things, which are informative) It was the "church-of-Oprah". It was as if it had been a 25-year long 'crusade', and this was the last final emotional appeal and "invitation". (speaking in 'church' terms)
She, of course, reviewed all the great things she and her staff had done over the years, and the greatness and awesomeness of it all. But then, between some of the commercial breaks she also did some -preaching-; somewhat like Paul did at Ephesus to the church leaders, on his final trip to Jerusalem, where he was then taken into custody, and was reviewing to them the Gospel message (Ac20:20-27) .... She was REVIEWING the Oprah Doctrines (she didn't call them that, but that's what they were), and appealing to her audience to take note, remember, and take it to heart.
Her speeches went by so fast, I will not get her quotes verbatim, but this is the gist.
Everybody is WORTHY. The fact a person is born indicates their self-worth. Because we exist, we are of value...-IN- and -OF- ourselves. Some of you subscribe to David Cloud's FBIS mailings. Around that same time the FBIS mailings were about Self-Esteem, Unconditional Love, Unconditional Forgiveness. The things Cloud exposed in those chapters were, essentially, what Oprah was preaching/reviewing. In last week's Q/A we spoke of the spider web with all the various spiders crawling around inside. They might be 'different' spiders, but it is -ALL- 'collectively', the -SAME- 'web' of the "doctrines of demons".
So then, after a couple more commercials and talking about other topics, Oprah proclaimed, "I'm a christian". She then brought up the fact that many people question "which god?" does she believe in. And here, like many false prophets do when they are defending their 'faith', she rattled along so fast it was hard to keep up and isolate the specific words (for memory, to be able to accurately repeat them). She claims to "believe in Jesus". The god who is all-knowing, all-powerful, all-loving, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah...
!!! THE G-O-D GOD !!! (that's: "Gee-Ooh-Dee")
And with her loudly shouted spelling of "G-O-D", that was supposed to clinch it, to let us know 'which' god it was. And of course, the audience then erupts into wild applause.
Pretty much everything she listed, where I said "blah, blah, blah", what she said pretty much -all- describes our Almighty, the God of the Scriptures; as much as she said. But she didn't say anything about "Savior" or "Redeemer" or "Holy", and such things. Just the (so-called) 'positive' and 'non-judgmental' things.
In the Oprah doctrines there is NO "sin". In fact, I've seen those odd snippets (they were "odd" to me because I did not tune in very often, but from the promos knew it was a 'regular' occurance) where she was openly praising sensuality and related things, by the guests she was hosting, and what they were doing. (the more sensuous, the happier Oprah was...in fact, some of her most "worshipful" times were also the most "sensuous" with some popular female singer, dressed provocatively, writhing and swooning about lust and self-worth) The next day I was at my neighbor's business, where a couple of "O" magazines were sitting there, so I leafed through a bit...and she promotes sensuality in those, as well. Anything the Bible defines as sin is "past hurts", past "abuse" that 'others' did to me...it's NOT MY FAULT. I'm NOT TO BLAME. I'm worthy. Oprah "faith" I've heard years ago, is faith "in yourself". We are to reach inside and pull out the goodness that is (already) within. Oprah "love" is love "in your heart". Salvation is the RELEASING (I don't know what term she uses) of all those hurts and REALIZING one's self-worth. She did not proclaim how God's love sent Jesus to die for our sin, to provide the way to God's presence and Eternal Life; that the sinner must repent of their sin and receive Jesus. For claiming to be a "christian", she did not get out her Bible and quote from God's Word.
If somebody rejects God's assessment that "all have sinned" and instead proclaims that "all are worthy", they believe in a different god. When a person rejects that mankind is sinful, they are calling the Almighty a liar.
The only point that expressing "Gee-Ooh-Dee" makes, is the fact that the person knows how-to-SPELL. -Any- god is spelled "g-o-d". Even the Almighty speaks of the -other- "gods". (Is41:23) By spelling them "g-o-d" does not mean He is acknowledging them as HIMSELF.
She says she believes "in Jesus". But Jesus said, "Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of Heaven" (Mt7:21)
Who gets to Heaven? "...he who does the will of [Jesus'] Father in Heaven"
When Jesus says, "unless you repent you will all likewise perish" (Lk13:3,5) but Oprah says, your mere existence, the fact that you were born, makes you worthy...there is NOTHING to repent 'about'; when the Psalmist proclaims "in sin did my mother conceive me" (Ps51:5)....by the words of her own mouth she has declared that she is NOT a True Christian, like she claims to be...by Biblical understanding.
As a people watcher, over the years I have noticed how 'DARK' her countenance is. Not skin color, but her soul/spirit behind the face. "God is light and in Him is no darkness at all" (1Jn1:5) Even in the promos where she has been talking about her Faaaaaaavorite moments....her countenance is of a very unhappy person...within her own soul, but putting on a brave front with fancy make-up and smiles, wishing it were so. She claims to provide light to people, but herself is in darkness. She purports to bring happiness to others, but she herself seeks validation at the inner self core level. She proclaims it to others, but she finds it illusive to herself. The blind leading the blind. When the blind lead the blind, they both "fall into the ditch" (Mt15:14) And her cheer-leading "-Gee-Ooh-Dee-" doesn't make it so.
Oprah has a great following. But then, the "whole world lies in wickedness" (1Jn5:19) and darkness. I just hope none of her followers include any of you... that you haven't also been deceived.
After 25 years, the words Oprah closed her legacy with were, these were
her last words: "To god be the glory!" But the question persists:
If My People....
if My people who have been called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from the heavens, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
Is this passage for america today or was it for the Jews back then.So many think this is all we got to do to turn america around.Your thoughts on this would be very helpful for me thankyou.
The passage says "My people". Specifically, was that not Israel. However, when we see how Jonah was sent to Nineveh, and they repented, and God withheld its destruction, could we not understand that the same -principle- could be said about America. This nation certainly is NOT "God's people". But God always is merciful to those who repent. As Jonah was complaining to God,
However... and this relates back to the H.Camping failed predictions. A customer was waiting while the plotter cut his boat #s, and as we were talking about Camping, he was talking about "the idiots" who followed him and had thrown away their money and possessions, and wishing somebody would "take him out". But in another breath the contemplation: Wondering if some day such a prediction actually 'might' come to pass.
Jonah initially refused to go to Nineveh. What did the stomach acids from the fish do to Jonah's skin? What did he LOOK LIKE as he was proclaiming destruction? Perhaps, while Jonah eventually obeyed and preached to Nineveh, his failure was also a testimony to strike 'fear' into the people? While Camping is a kook false prophet, perhaps some 'fear' will strike a few here and there? How many more tornadoes and floods will it take for the people of this country to wake up? If only, somebody could get the people's attention, like Camping did, to proclaim the 'reason' for all these storms!
In talking with a neighbor, they made the observation how this year's tornadoes seem to be hitting populated areas, not just 'open areas' of fields, etc., like in other years. When I suggested words about "God's judgment", the response was, instead, about how "mother nature" is "making changes".
People are noticing...but they need to have the dots connected. But if they are looking to "mother nature", and such things; even people who -know- about Godly things from their family heritages; this nation is pretty much down-the-toilet, with no redemption!
Thank God for my talent!
Country Stars: Always Thank God they beat the rest of the Country Stars who also 'would' Thank God had they won the prize.
Sports: Some bow down, and some make the 'sign if the cross' when they score a basket or make a touchdown.
Nice Weather: People thank God when it's nice but grow silent when it's not. (It rains on the just and unjust in my world) [vw: also in God's world Mt5:45 :]
Hollywood Stars: Thank God they beat others (while hanging onto their 4th wife who lives, dresses and acts like a wh0re).
Political Candidate: Thanks God that he or she beat out the other guy.
So who's side is God on? Just those who WIN WIN WIN???? Plus, since when is WINNING a sign God is blessing you (or them)?
What I have learned when I thanked God publicly. If I get lucky and win against an opponent. Or get passed over in a storm. Or get a nice job. Or make money on something I thought I won't. It all seems to get holes shot in it!
Who's side God on?
There was one day that Joab, David's chief commander, and Abner from Israel, were facing off against each other (before the nation was united under David). Abner says...
Like the saying, "Let not the one who puts on his armor boast like the one who takes it off." (1Ki20:11)
There was a Bible teacher/pastor I knew years ago who, at the time, I thought was one of the 'best' Bible teachers I had ever heard. In his younger years he had been a basketball player, and apparently got along well with the church youth. And with that 'sport' mentality he would periodically repeat during sermons, "Christians are winners!" At the time I thought that was 'cool'. Now I think back (36 years) to that expression and mentally go, "Huh?"
And regarding invoking "god", the same day this e-mail came was Memorial Day holiday, so I was home, and was around the TV when a re-run of Star Trek Next Generation was on. With that series, I've mentioned in the past, Captain Jean Luc was always on a campaign to discredit any sort of "deity" any opportunity he had. The series set in a hypothetical "star date" 'something-or-other' several centuries into the future of our present time. He would set his jaw and adamantly pontificate how they, in their future centuries, had finally 'evolved' society -past- the primitive antiquated notion of "God"; that man had 'bettered' himself to what they had become....without god.
OK...so... this episode on Memorial Day, Captain and Wesley Crusher are headed somewhere in this jumper, owned by a third party; it develops engine troubles and they crash land onto this hot desert moon. The jumper's power and 'all-systems' are not working, which means they can't use the 'replicator' to get food and water. And the pilot doesn't have any 'reserve' stores. (except the flask inside his coat) The story revolves around them hiking to these mountains they see in the distance, and finding a fountain of water in this cave, guarded by a force field, etc.etc. Anyway, our well-beloved -atheist-, the Captain, as he realizes the predicament they are in, utters the exclamation, "DEAR GOD!!!"
Exactly -who- was Jean Luc exclaiming? Oprah's "Gee-Ooh-Dee"? If God doesn't exist, and they had become so superior because of it; -why- was the Captain making such an exclamation?
And, I've gotta say: I really don't think there will be sports in Heaven. Doesn't Paul say,
You take the ball. No, you take the ball, I insist. Here, let me usher these other people out of the way so you have a clear shot at the basket. Everybody in the stands please be quiet so he's not distracted. Hey, Goalie! You wanna move out of the net area so our visitor, here, can have a clear shot with the puck. OK...steady now...there you go! Yea! You made it! (Shaking hands, and slapping the shoulder)
In high school it was the jocks who were the bullies (because they were SO GREAT), and the cheer leaders who were uppity. Although, when senior year came, and I had taken all the other harder ("college prep") classes for graduation [science, math, Latin], and to fill-in some spare credits was taking 'bookkeeping', and the class had all the cheerleaders because they thought it would be an 'easy' class, I was no longer to be 'ignored' when, as we worked on our assignments in-class, and they needed help, I was already finished with my work (in which I got all 100%), and they came around for help. I was now suddenly their 'friend', and they wrote nice comments in my year book.
Locally, I get really disgusted with the ads/promos on TV for Gonzaga University sports. All the hi-fiving, chest bumping, the girl's basketball team in a huddle, shoulder-to-shoulder, doing this (what looks from the camera angle like) camera lens aperture 'swish', swishing bigger/smaller, looking a lot like, were each one to move alone minus the others, the motions that jungle witch doctors do, with underlying whispered-chant that sounds like witches casting a spell (or something) that to my spirit has a very evil 'demonic' feel to it, followed by cheerleaders lined up, jumping, wiggling and spreading their legs, tilting the hips, posing as they do. Gonzaga is a catholic school, allegedly representing "god" (??), and on their school classical radio PSAs, and on signs attached to light poles lining the streets near the campus the words, "be inspired". (Gonzaga is a sports powerhouse)
The -ultimate- sports, the Olympics, based on ancient mythology, the females of the oracle going up to the mountain, getting the flame of the gods to light the (satanic) 'caldron'. (Was it Shakespeare, I seem to recall from English lit? the witches chanting "...fire burn and caldron bubble") In ancient times their sport was TO THE GODS. It was always competition of god-against-god; and the athlete in praise to the gods. Remember Sennecharib's taunts against Hezekiah, "Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim and Hena and Ivah? Have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?" (2Ki18:34) Joab and Abner started out with "sport", which became the battle of warfare. What are the cheerleader shouts? "Go! Go! Fight! Fight!" Why... FIGHT? Are the teams -angry- with each other? Or is it that the line between 'sport' and 'warfare' is a very -thin- one?
In the latter days of the Roman empire, when their primary entertainment was the fights (often/usually to the death), there is the account of one fellow who was in a fight (sport) (and their fighting was more like today's 'cage' fighting, than boxing...although this does not excuse today's boxing, in my opinion!) and his face became soooo mangled that, when he finally was healed of his wounds and went 'home' to one of the surrounding regions, his own town's people did not recognize him, his face was -that- disfigured, and they killed him...thinking he was trying to be an impostor of the person who he really was.
Mention is made of making the "sign of the cross". The one that disgusts me, also, is where the person might be wearing a cross or some object around their neck, they make the touch-down, and then -kiss- the object and hold it up to-the-heavens with a smile and 'point' to the "man upstairs".
Through Jeremiah God chides Israel...
What is it to take God's name in vain?
I've been doing everything under the sun that mocks God, that transgresses His Law, that disgraces God's creation, lying through my teeth and making back-room deals to get elected, and I WON! Thank You, God! ??? God, thank You for helping me disobey Your Law more than everybody else gathered at this shindig, so that I got to take home the little -statue- (idol) to put on my brag shelf and let everybody adore it with me, who were also breaking Your Law as fast and furious as they could, because we all wanted to be 'better' at it (breaking Your Law) than the next person. But -I- GOT TO take home the idol. Thank god!
When these people "thank God" for their accomplishments, when one considers how their accomplishments were gained by breaking a high percentage of God's Law, they are NOT thanking the Most High.
"Let all be put to shame who serve graven images, who boast of idols. Bow down before Him, all you gods." (Ps97:7)
Was it the "higher power" who died on the cross that Paul says,
When Oprah proclaimed, "To god be the glory" we asked "-which- 'g-o-d'?" American money has imprinted on it, "In God We Trust". Again: -which- god? This is certainly -NOT- a [C]hristian or [G]odly nation! A neighbor business owner, who worships the little poodle she has, and loves it as if it was a person, has a bumper sticker, "In dog we trust".
Do we -thank- the 'props' we use at our convenience, which for the occasion we call "god"? Or do we revere and prostrate before the Almighty Jehovah, the I AM, the Creator and Savior? And if we are prostrating before Him, do we do so with trinkets and objects?
What did we do to deserve this? (re: Joplin, MO)
Dave Daubenmire - [link]
You who know this person's writings... he wimped out! He pickets against abortion clinics, gay parades, strip clubs, etc. and, essentially, calls anybody who doesn't do what he does, getting in people's faces as he does, 'wimps'. But when a genuine answer was needed... where's the 'tough guy' (straight shooter) now?!
A lady in Joplin asked him, "What did we do to deserve this? If there is really a God and He is good can you explain to me why He would allow this to happen?" And he says, "I offered to pray with her-and mentioned some cliché like "we just have to trust God."
He knew he had wimped out, and then wrote what he "wished" he had said to her (excerpting): "I have no answer as to why God allowed this. But I do believe that God is sovereign and that nothing happens without His permission.... Some things are just the natural consequences of life."
(No! PB is not 'judging' DD. DD set certain standards in the past, which he claimed, and expected of others, and condemned them when they didn't tow the line, but did not live up to, himself. He did not follow his own rules. And he knows it. But... he typically preaches tough against the sinful state of this nation, but now, suddenly, he "has no answer?")
A subscriber reacted to last week's Q/A ("If My People" above)
I didn't know Joplin directly, don't know if we ever drove through it when I was a kid? (my mother was from Missouri/Iowa) But is it not generally situated in what is often called the "Bible Belt". Over the years I have often seen (and experienced, particularly against my ex-unequal yoke years ago) the self-righteous pharisaism that comes from them. As Jesus spoke of the 'log' vs the 'twig', the Bible Belt has logs in their eyes, and the twigs they often would seek to remove from somebody else was an 'imagined' twig. But themselves would be full of all lying, gossip, envy, backbiting. And yes...self-righteousness. I don't know about the person who said/asked it to Daubenmire, but they, generically, would be the ones to whine, "What did weeee doooo?" Especially, since we are such good 'church-going' people.
It might rain on the just and the unjust, alike. But this general state of catastrophe that is going on in this country is -clearly- God's JUDGMENT. Wednesday night's news they were telling of tornadoes in Massachusetts. In Massachusetts????
There sure is NOTHING NORMAL about this year! It's NOT -just- 'nature' taking its course!
Thursday night there was nothing on TV, but was too tired to do anything else, and it was too early for bed; so tuned in to the SDA station. The preacher was talking about the Second Coming, and quoted Paul,
Of course, the SDAs seem to not believe in a Rapture. A few days earlier I heard another SDA preacher explain how the SDA came OUT OF the 'Millerite' movement, thus putting distance between current SDA and the Millerite failed Rapture predictions of 1843-1844. So when those predictions were proven false, the Millerites went into a "tarrying" mode, and today the SDA say there is NO Rapture. See? -They- were wrong, but -we- pulled out and we are right....The Bible doesn't proclaim a (secret) Rapture, it doesn't proclaim anything about "seven years"...as they quote everything ALL-AROUND the Rapture passages, and only proclaim the Second Coming. No "seven years", huh? What about Dan9:27 Oh, but, they turn everything with prophetic 'days' into years. One will proclaim one set of (alleged) fulfillments from Daniel's 2300 days (Dan8:14), and another will proclaim the -same- set of fulfillments from the 1260 days (Re11:3,12:6) The -same- history fulfilled in 2300 years, and also in 1260 years...depending on -which- preacher is preaching at the moment. And because the 1843-44 predictions were wrong, they threw the (proverbial) baby out with the bathwater, and instead of just stopping the predictions (Mt24:36), also threw the entire Rapture out of their vocabulary.
The Monday after May21 I printed up a paper banner for the front window of the store: "Rapture is Real - Just... When?" I don't know how many driving by saw it, but it got a couple of alarmed looks by people up close.
But...are not events happening one-after-another, and are not these earthquakes, storms, floods and wildfires more -intense- than 'normal'....of historically record-breaking proportions. ....like leading up to 'birth'.
Is it not safe to say, even though we don't know the "day or the hour" (Mt24:36), that it is -close- "at the doors" (Mt24:33)
