Re: Antichrists

Around the time when Jesus Christ was born, "..it happened in those
days, a decree went out from Caesar Augustus for all the habitable
world to be registered...and all went to be registered, each to his own
city." (Lk2:1,3)

These words begin the account that many have memorized, of Jesus' birth
in a barn, of the lowly shepherds being visited by angels with the
announcement, and of their visit to the stable.

These were frightful times. The one-world government from Rome required
an accounting of every man, woman and child. In many ways, not all that
dissimilar to the times the world is headed for today.

There was something we don't usually take note of regarding those days.
When Jesus was 'about to' arrive on the scene, there were antichrists
here and there. How do we know this?

After Jesus had died, risen and 'now' the Holy Spirit had come, and the
fledgling Church was growing, this new Church's 'leaders' were brought
up on trial. As far as the religious leaders were concerned, Jesus was
nothing more than -ANOTHER- cult leader.

Notice Saul/Paul's mentor, Gamaliel, stands and reviews history with
them. What works out to being -before- Jesus was born, "Theudas rose
up, claiming himself to be somebody..." and he had 400 followers.
(Acts5:36) And then when Jesus was born "Judas the Galilean rose up in
the days of the Registration." (vs37) And notice that "Galilee" was
even prophesied about Jesus. (Is9:1) And when Peter was tested, the
bystanders called him a "Galilean" as they figured he was a follower of
Jesus. (Mk14:70) You see, this "Judas" might have seemed to have the
proper credentials.

So, is it any wonder that there are so many antichrists today, too?
False prophets and apostles, claiming to be harnessing God's "power"
with their deceiving 'signs and wonders'. Trying to lead astray "if
possible, even the elect." (Mt24:24)

But what happened to those fakes? They were "dispersed and came to
nothing" and were "scattered". But Jesus' disciples, the new Church,
turned the world "upside down". (Acts17:6)

What is going to happen to today's proliferation of wolves? They may
'seem to' flourish for a little while longer yet. But then, Christ is
going to destroy them and set up His Kingdom...

"I was looking in the night visions. And behold! One like the Son of
Man came with the clouds of the heavens. And He came to the Ancient of
Days. And they brought Him near before Him. And dominion was given to
Him, and glory, and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages
should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion which shall
not pass away, and His kingdom that which shall not be destroyed."
(Dan7:13-14)

Amen!
