Re: Howl! Babylon is fallen! (Isa 13-14)

"Babylon the great has fallen, has fallen! And it has become the
dwelling-place of demons, and a prison of every unclean spirit...for
her sins joined together, even up to Heaven, and God has remembered her
unjust deeds." (~Rev18:2-5)

"And [the] angel..laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, who is the
Devil and Satan, ..bound him..and cast him into the abyss.."(Rev20:1-3)

As a person reads in ch18 one gets a picture of the entire world system
coming to a cataclysmic collapse. All at one time. Wham!! The demise is
sudden and violent. There have been many speculations as to the nature
of that demise. We get a little glimpse into the matter from Isaiah.

"The noise of a multitude in the mountains, as of a great people; a
tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together..they
come from a far country, from the end of the heavens." (~Isa13:4-5) In
Randall Thompson's acapella choral work "The Peaceable Kingdom" these
verses come through and put a "chill" to your spine. It's not a work
one hears much. This is a time of God's Wrath. And the prophet
proclaims:

"Howl! For the day of Jehovah is at hand; it shall come as a
destruction from the Almighty. Behold, the day of the LORD comes, cruel
and with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land waste; and He shall
destroy its sinners out of it." (~vs6,9)

We see a picture of armies fighting, of pillage and rape, and of
astrological events. "I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall
move out of its place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the
day of His fierce anger." (vs13)

[Ed: and the scoffers say this is a time of "purifying" His church? of
"blessing"? as they don't believe in the rapture where the Lord lifts
His Believers out before He brings on wrath?

It is a time of, among other things, "retribution" against those who
persecuted the Church. (2Th1:6) The Church has "rest" during this time
of the "revealing" of the Lord Jesus Christ. (vs7) As "vengeance" is
meted out to the world of those who don't know Christ. (vs8)]

Also notice, as the nations have "[plotted] together against the LORD
and against His Christ" (Ps2:2) in conjunction with satan, this will be
satan's final push to "be like the Most High" (14:14) What we see
happening today, as nations are lining up to fulfill prophecy to push
against Israel, and as the world religions are "uniting", we need to
keep in mind that what is just around the corner is to become the "next
most significant event" in history. The first was when Jesus died on
the Cross to pay for sin. This next one will be the final all-out
battle between God and Satan. Satan is busy consolidating his forces
and alliances now, to unify the whole world against God.

But notice the outcome. "Yet you shall be brought down to hell, to the
sides of the Pit." (14:15) "And the Devil who deceived them was cast
into the Lake of Fire and Brimstone, where the beast and the false
prophet were. And he will be tormented day and night forever and ever."
(Rev20:10)

And notice something else. Everyone who was following satan, when they
see his demise, will be surprised. "All of them shall speak and say to
you, Are you also as weak as we? Are you like us?" (Isa14:10) You who
are "afraid" of satan, take note: he's a "nothing"! a "nobody"!

Israel and the world will then finally be at peace. Israel will be
firmly in their own land, and the nations will cling to them, and help
them to be fully established. (Isa14:1-2) They will finally have "rest
from [their] sorrow" (vs3) because "the LORD has broken the staff of
the wicked, the scepter of the rulers." (vs5)

The world and nature will finally be at peace and rest. "All the earth
is at rest and is quiet; they break out into singing." (vs7) "And all
the trees of the field shall clap their hands.." (Is55:12) No more
thorns. (55:13) "The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the
lion will eat straw like the ox...they will not hurt nor destry in all
My holy mountain, says the LORD." (65:25)

How sure is all this? In working on the LITV updates recently, Jay
Green made a change in Ezekiel that caught my attention: "Behold! It
has come, and it has happened, declares the Lord Jehovah. That is the
day of which I have spoken." (Ezek39:8) Notice the -past-tense- there
to those prophecies. Jehovah Who "declares the end from the beginning"
Who is able to claim "I have spoken, I will also cause it to come; I
have formed; yes, I will do it." (Is46:10,11) is SO SURE of His Word
that he proclaims prophecy in the PAST TENSE, as though it has already
happened. For us finite humans, we look to the future in wonderment,
and uncertainty. But God's conclusion of these matters is a "done
deal". Period.

Amen!
