Re: Are You a Coward?
"Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be led astray. Neither prostitutes, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God." (1Co6:9-11)
I like to sometimes catch the ones where contestants must answer questions, testing their knowledge. I suspect the ultimate in that department is "Jeopardy" But I also get a kick out of 1 vs 100. But this 5th Grader show is silly; not because it is so simple, but because of how stupid the contestants are and behave. I don't know... perhaps that is the show's intent? Indeed, some of the questions are of the type that would only be useful for the class lecture, book reading, and subsequent test; certain bits of trivia that most people would never need in an entire lifetime, unless their career was in that field. e.g. "What geological era do we live in today?" I'm a pretty knowledgable person on a lot of topics, but that is not a question I could have answered.
But, the other evening they had a contestant: a smart individual, intelligent; and being an 'accountant' by career, one would think he also had a mind with certain assumed abilities in deduction, reasoning and ability to calculate simple math.
But what did he do? He jumped around, writhed in anguish, hands up to his face, making 'shrieking' type vocal noises (relative to the male vocal anatomy). One would have thought he was Ross-the-Intern's quieter brother; or some cousin to that Hollywood fashion 'expert' (what's his name: Cojo?) I couldn't figure out 'why' he was on the show; he didn't seem intent on actually answering questions, but more in behaving erratically looney, being wishy washy, being deliberately indecisive. Unless you happened to see this particular episode, I have no words in my vocabulary adequate to describe his behavior, other than: he was acting "like a girl". Actually, I expect some girls would be offended at that comparison; he was acting like a total idiot, totally bonkers! When deciding which planet was 'brightest' in the night sky, he -knew- the answer was "Venus", but -deliberately- answered "Mars" because he figured (I don't know) the 5th grader would answer it correctly and bail him out. Similar theatrics on Abe Lincoln and "1860", something the 5th grader -immediately- wrote down correctly; something every American school student knows at the drop-of-a-hat. Or on another question: "How many cups are in 5 1/2 gallons?" Easy for an accountant: 4x4x5.5=88 But instead of kicking his "accountant brain" in gear, it was: Oh, I just don't know. I'm scared. I'm unsure. Whatever shall I do? Shall I go with the 5th grader's answer? Meanwhile I'm yelling at the TV, "YOU'RE AN A-C-C-O-U-N-T-A-N-T... USE YOUR BRAIN...and BE DONE WITH IT!!!"
At least, on the 1 vs 100 the next night, when 36 of "the mob" got the definition of "white sale" wrong, the contestant exclaimed, "You're kidding!!!" (that so many got it wrong) She made the exclamation almost in the same breath I did. It's something I exclaim a lot, too, about many contestants, and easy questions. And later when the next contestant needed to calculate the square root of 100, he did so, pronto, and pushed the button. Firm and Resolute! Know the answer: This is it! Bam!
But this 'accountant' was doing like so many do; one of the reasons today's apostasy of the 'church' is so strong. He may have been acting out his "gayness" for the world. That seems to be the motivation for Ross-the-Intern and Cojo, the media promotes them, and Hollywood stars embrace them and their depravity; and their FLAM-boyance is encouraged and emulated by the world.
But there seems to be a -deliberate- attitude in society today of NOT BEING DEFINITE...NOT being RESOLUTE...NOT being FIRM...NOT -knowing- what is truly -knowable- and STICKING-TO-IT. There seems to be a -deliberate- attempt to NOT USE one's REASON. On some other game shows I have often noticed where the multiple choice answers can be 'reasoned' out, even if the person didn't happen to know the answer directly, based on meanings of words and associations...but the contestant won't even begin to try to use reason, but will immediately throw up their hands and use their "helps". They don't seem to know HOW to THINK.
God gave us minds. Paul speaks of praying and worshiping "with the mind" (1Co14:15) But the [c]hurch is taking from the world's mysticism and instead "empties" the mind.
Paul would go into the synagogues and "reason with them from the Scriptures" (Ac17:2) 'This is what Scripture -says-, therefore....X, Y and Z'
God chided Israel, "Come now and let us reason together" about sin and redemption. "If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land. But if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured with the sword; for the mouth of Jehovah has spoken." (Is1:18-20)
God says, "This is the way, walk in it..." (Is30:21) He says about His Law, "But the Word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it." (De30:14)
But what has the [c]hurch been doing? Nobody teaches: but rather "what does this passage mean TO YOU?" Well, "TO ME it means"; or: it -SEEMS- like such-n-so.
God's Word says: "You shall not do as we are doing here today; every man doing whatever is right in his own eyes;" (De12:8)
Nebuchadnezzar had a dream. But he also knew that his astrologers were like today's [c]hurch, conjuring up variations and versions to fit the whim and fancy of what they thought would be found favorable and promote their own station in the kingdom. But he wanted TRUTH. So the edict was: tell me the dream AND the interpretation. He understood the concept: "For he does not know what shall be; so who can tell him when it shall be?" (Ec8:7) If the conjurers are claiming to know the interpretation, then they should also be able to come up with the dream. If the 'explanation' comes from the spirit realm, they should also have access to the 'original' which also came from the spirit realm.
So, when Daniel is given the dream and its explanation from God, he presents it as: "there is a God in Heaven who reveals secrets, and makes known to King Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days" (Dan2:28)
As he lays it all out before the king he does not do as typical conjurers do: I'm seeing a... Wait! I've just about got it. Yes! There it is. Blah, blah, blah... is that about right?
He proclaims: 'thus and so', and closes with, "This -is- the dream. Now we will tell the interpretation..." (vs36) And when he finishes, "And the dream is certain, and the interpretation of it is sure." (vs45b)
"Thus says the Lord Jehovah"
But today we have the world arguing what the "meaning of -is- is"; and the [c]hurch has God accepting -all- people, "just as you are". Tear down the "walls" of doctrine. The Bible -says- 'this', but if a True Believer sticks to God's Word... Oh, you're so "judgmental".
The sign says, "Keep Out! Hazardous Chemicals" Oh, the sign is so judgmental and 'negative'. If you see a child running into the area, and you grab them to keep them out of harm's way; you are being 'abusive'.
Jesus says, "No one comes to the Father except through Me" (Jn14:6b) and Peter proclaims, "..there is no other name..." for Salvation (Ac4:12) Oh, that is so narrow-minded! So 'exclusive'.
Well, as a matter of fact: YES! it is!
How many cups are in 5 1/2 gallons? There is only one correct answer; by definition; by western American standards of weights and measures. The correct answer is "88". The 5th grader had written down "89" I have wondered but what that bad answer might have been a 'plant'...since it was a TV 'game' show, including 'strategies'. Often "trick questions" are asked, and in this case perhaps a "trick answer", too?
How does one get to Heaven? Oh... 'everybody' gets there. All paths lead to Heaven, or Nervana, or Ascendency, or Higher plains of existence, or the next step in our evolutionary process. It's all the same place: one person calls it "heaven", another "higher plain". Same diff'
But... Dear oh dear! Whatever shall I do? I don't know what to do! (Holding my hands to my face in bewilderment, dancing around in circles) How do I know what's correct?
It takes real gumption to stand for the Lord, and the Truth of His Word and His Laws and Commands.
Perhaps we have addressed a bit the perversity of gay effeminism too much? Well, it is to illustrate society in general, and the [c]hurch in particular. What the gay accountant was doing, being wishy washy and all 'fluttery' regarding anything that is, by definition, of firm factual foundation; the [c]hurch has been doing regarding the Sure Foundation of God's Word. (Is28:16) Perhaps one of the reasons God calls effeminism an "abomination" (Lev18:22,20:13,22:5) is because it exemplifies the mind and heart of the one who "limps between two divided opinions" (1Ki18:21) between God and idols? Jesus proclaimed that "No one is able to serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will hold to the one and despise the other..." (Mt6:24) And if a person is going in some direction other than God and His Word, if they go with the world: "Whoever therefore purposes to be a friend of the world is shown to be opposing God." (Ja4:4)
A person wants to call themself a [C]hristian, but is afraid to Stand Firm on God's Word..."this is what the Bible -SAYS-"...? It's just like being God's -enemy-. In fact the KJV (and others) use the word "enemy" in that last verse. If a person 'opposes' or acts 'hostile' towards somebody, is that not what an 'enemy' does?
At one time we were -all- this way.
