Re: Peace and Safety

"But concerning the times and seasons, brothers, you have no need for
it to be written. For you yourselves know accurately that the day of
the Lord, as a thief in the night, so it comes. For when they say,
Peace and safety! Then suddenly destruction comes upon them, like
travail to the one having babe in womb, and not at all shall they
escape." (1Th5:1-3)

"Peace in the middle east..." the opening words of Sunday night's
(1/2/00) NBC national news. Peace talks between Syria and Israel, with
USA acting as 'peacemaker host'.

Behind the news, Strafor.com, an intelligence service I subscribe to,
giving its "decade forecast" for the middle east, predicts a decade for
the middle east where nothing globally significant should be expected.
That in a global sense, this region of the world has lost its 'appeal'
to the super-powers as being anything strategic.

Hear God's Word... "So prophesy, son of man, and say to Gog, So says
the Lord Jehovah: Shall you not know in that day when My people Israel
dwells securely? And you shall come from your place out of the recesses
of the north, you and many peoples with you, all of them riding on
horses, a great assembly, a mighty army...it shall be in the after
days, and I will bring you against My land so that the nations may know
Me, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes." (Eze38:14-16)

The day after the new year it is "Peace, peace." The day before the new
year, Russia's head of state changed hands, to a person who will tend
to be more militaristic. Russia is in shambles economically. The only
thing of significance they have is their military. What will be
Russia's motivation to push southward? "..to plunder a plunder, and to
steal a prize.." (Eze38:12) Someone recently sent me info about the
"oil" connection with regards to Israel giving up the Golan Heights in
negotiating with Syria; a passageway to get an oil pipeline from
interior countries, through the Golan, out to the Mediterranean Sea.
Egypt fits into the "oil" equation, too. Tonight's (1/3/00) news about
Russia spoke of "fuel shortages" in that country. [Ed: For you astute
ones, Hos12:1]

If you read the first part of that chapter (Eze38) you see the other
nations that will be involved. Some of the very ones Israel has been
negotiating 'peace' with. And, we already know of Israel's staunchest
enemy, having been given refuge and 'legitimacy' right within Israel's
borders...Yasser Arafat. He has made no bones regarding his true
intentions. But is presently sitting quietly, pretending, waiting for
the right moment, when it all comes together.

And if anybody doubted the Arab/Moslem intentions regarding Israel, the
network media, and these other intelligence services do not at all tell
us of presently occuring archaeological desecrations to previous
Israeli temple sites, by the truckloads. Trying to get rid of any
'evidence' that anything other than "Moslem" ever existed there
historically. Those in Israel who have a heart for God have been
pleading with Israel's government to force a stop to the destruction,
to no avail.

Recently we suggested that the 'Race Official' has intoned, "On your
marks...! Get set...!" All we need is the "bang!" of the starting gun.
The world has suddenly gotten into this mode of "peace" ...except
Russia. The rest assume that Russia is impotent as any meaningful
threat in any foreseeable near future.

Just a reminder to us to keep our eyes open: "For when they say, Peace
and Safety...then sudden destruction comes..."

"But you, brothers, are not in darkness, that the Day should overtake
you as a thief. You are all sons of light..so then, we should not
sleep, as the rest do [who also say that there will be no rapture-4:17],
but we should watch and be sober..having put on the breastplate of
faith and love, and the hope of salvation as a helmet...because God has
not appointed us to wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord
Jesus Christ...Therefore, encourage one another, and build up one
another, as you indeed do." (~5:4-11)

Amen!
