" Salvation: apart from Christianity? "
"Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under Heaven given among men [than Jesus of Nazareth] that is required for us to be saved." (Ac4:10,12)

"Jesus said... I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (Jn14:6)

The July/August (2010) issue of "Israel My Glory" magazine had an article about the Biblical 'intolerance' that characterizes Faith in Jesus Christ; contrasted to the many prevailing views of tolerance for all faiths; the author quoted from several different viewpoints.

One person was quoted, "I can say I am a Christian today because of a Hindu meditation master." She was taught to meditate and in a state of silence, learned to love God, and as a result, experienced God's love for her. Contrary to Scripture...

"We love [God] because He first loved us." (1Jn4:19) ..and.. "while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Rom5:8)
Another was the speculation that there -could- be "Muslim followers of Jesus"; that muslims could engage in muslim prayers, study the Koran, and also see themselves as "messianic muslims" or "christian muslims". This... despite the Koranic teachings that anybody not adhering to Islam is an infidel, to be hunted, conquered and killed, starting with "Saturday" (Jews) and moving on to "Sunday" (christians)..???

Or, that a Buddhist, even though they could not bring themself to "embrace Jesus", might be a better christian than christians are.

Apparently over the past 10 years there have been meetings going on between Mormon leadership and some "key evangelicals", such as from Fuller Seminary, to come up with a formal statement of agreement, much as the "Evangelicals and Catholics Together" (ECT) did years ago. [Ect] - [Ect2] Thing is, in some circles, Mormons are already being called "christian". They certainly have their KJV Bible, and speak of Jesus Christ. But Mormons believe that when they die they become gods and goddesses. Where is that in Scripture? They have their "additional" gospel of Jesus Christ, the Book of Mormon, given through an angel. What did Paul say?

"But even if we, or an ANGEL FROM HEAVEN, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed." (Ga1:8-9)

"For I testify to everyone who hears the Words of the Prophecy of this Book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add upon him the plagues that are written in this Book" (Re22:18)

Another was quoted:
"The gospel is not our gospel, but the gospel of the kingdom of God, and what belongs to the kingdom of God cannot be hijacked by Christianity... To put it in different terms, there is no salvation outside of Christ, but there is salvation outside of Christianity. For the last 2000 years Christianity has granted itself a special status among religions. An emerging generation of Christians is simply saying, 'No more special treatment'."

(This paragraph was the catalyst for this article.)

In the same issue were commentaries [link] about the current state of paganism in this country, especially the concepts of Mother Earth, Goddess Gaia, throwing out christianity in favor of an Earth-Human-Nature consciousness, and the Feminist declaration: "I found god in myself, and I loved her. I loved her fiercely" As they have their mock communions, the "Lady's Supper", in which they bite into a sacramental apple; as they also worship the goddess Sophia. And of course, their pop-goddess sings, as heard regularly on public sound systems, "I am beautiful in every way."

The same issue continued an on-going series on Replacement Theology, something begun by Rome around the time of Constantine and others, as Rome "christianized" their old pagan beliefs that originated out of Babylon; and since Jews were "Christ killers" (not reasoning how Jesus was crucified on a -Roman- cross; He was not -stoned- as the Jews wanted to do) they were to be persecuted and killed. And so, reaching Jews with the Gospel of Jesus Christ is made well-nigh-impossible because of the history that "christianity" -persecuted- Jews, while claiming to be the "only true religion".

Using this same flawed logic, people have used the Bible to promote anti-semitism, and have misquoted Scripture to say that "THE JEWS" persecuted Paul, not stopping to think that Paul -was- a Jew. The passage actually says, "the UNBELIEVING JEWS" stirred up trouble against Paul. (Ac14:2) As we will see as we progress, here; and Jews need to understand the truth of history: it was -UNBELIEVING- christianity that persecuted Jews.

All these different things are about "religion" and "lies". Their "christianity" is not true Biblical Christianity. (Ac11:26) Their religion has nothing to do with acknowledgment of sin, (Ps51:3) meeting God in repentance (Lk18:13), and receiving Jesus Christ in Salvation. (Jn1:12) Their religions do not grant 'redemption' from sin (Eph1:7, Col1:14), nor promise the assurance of Eternal Life. (1Jn5:11,13,20)

They are based in satan's original pride...

"I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High." (Is14:14)
When the worshipers of Sophia bite into their communion apple, they are purposely re-enacting Eve's Fall. In effect, saying that Eve was right, and God was wrong. Boil everything down to its core, this is the gist of all world religions who worship the Queen of Heaven, variously named over the years: Isis, Ashtoreth, Ishtar, Artemis, Libertas...Mary, etc. They consist either of Self-deification (you will be as God Ge3:5); worship of some sort of fertile Female essence (Eve, the mother of all living Ge3:20); or in the extreme cases, actual overt, conscious, purposeful, ritualistic, by name, Satan worship. But in all cases, they are following the "dragon, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan" (Re12:9,20:2)
"...the things which the Gentiles sacrifice they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to have fellowship with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lordís table and of the table of demons." (1Co10:20-21)
So, getting back to our titular question: What about "christianity"? Is not Salvation by and through Christianity... BY DEFINITON?

Where did the term "christian" originate?

"And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch." (Ac11:26b)
The disciples of Jesus Christ. By definition: those who held to the teachings of Jesus, taught them to others, believed in Jesus for Salvation, and repeated Jesus' proclamation that there is NO OTHER WAY to the Father (Salvation and Heaven) than through Jesus' shed blood. (Jn14:6, Re1:5, Tit3:5, etc) "JESUS" is the author of Salvation. (Mt1:21, Heb12:2) "CHRIST" the Anointed Ruler. (Re11:15, 20:4,6, Is9:7) Thus, anybody who has Believed into Jesus Christ (Jn3:16), having received Him (Jn1:12), and follows up with "works befitting repentance" (Ac26:20) proving the claims to Faith with Christ-like holy behavior (Ja2:18) and continues in Christ's doctrine (Ac2:42, 1Ti4:16) is a Christian. (in a nutshell) BY DEFINITON

Just as a skilled performer of music is called a MUSIC-ian, a person who works with electricity is an ELECTRIC-ian; so too, a person who is devoted to Jesus Christ in 'honesty' of -heart- (Rom2:29, Lk8:15) is a CHRIST-ian. BY DEFINITION

And so, further expanding: a belief-system that follows what CHRISTians believe, teach and obey (Ro1:5, 16:26) is CHRIST-ianity. BY DEFINITION

Thus, the next logical statements are true: that "Christianity is required for Salvation", and also that Christianity is the only true faith, since Christianity defines Christ, and Jesus said that He was the only way to the Father. As the one quote said about christianity "granted itself" a special "status" among religions, that is because God truly -is- "above all gods" (1Ch16:25, Ps95:3, 97:9, etc) Christianity did not "hijack" this position. It didn't need to. By its very nature and origin it -IS- above all religions. Always was, and always will be. And anyone who is not a (Biblical) Christian, whose name is not in the Book of Life, will spend eternity in the Lake of Fire. (Re20:15) Yes, Christianity is -very- 'intolerant' of other beliefs, because the Holy God does not tolerate any "other gods" before Him. (Ex20:3-5) He is holy and jealous and does not tolerate impostors.

The Faith of Christianity (understanding the definitions as just given) HAS BEEN 'HIJACKED'.

"Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning the common salvation, it was necessary for me to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was ONCE FOR ALL DELIVERED to the saints. For certain men HAVE CREPT IN UNNOTICED, who long ago were set forth to this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and DENY THE ONLY LORD GOD, EVEN OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST" (Ju1:3-4)

"Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, being devoted to corrupting spirits and doctrines of demons" (1Ti4:1)

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own lusts, desiring to hear pleasant things, they will heap up for themselves teachers" (2Ti4:3)

"Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves." (Ac20:30)

"For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder; for Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works." (2Co11:13-15)

And those thus-deceived, and in rebellion, continue to call themselves "christian", and as being of the "church". Even before the first century was completed, and the original apostles had died, "even [then] many antichrists [had] risen up" (1Jn2:18) The pharisees of Ephesus had lost their first love. (Re2:4) Smyrna was contending with those claiming to be Believers, but who were "the synagogue of satan" (Re2:9) Pergamos was right next to "satan's throne" (Re2:13) Thyatira was letting Jezebel rule in their midst. (Re2:20) Sardis made 'claims' for Christ but were "dead" (Re3:1) Laodicea is about to be vomitted out. (Re3:16) These churches of Revelation are told to repent, otherwise their lampstand would be removed. They would see judgment. And yet they continued to be called "church". "Christian"

Of Israel Paul said, "...not all those of Israel are Israel" (Rom9:6b)

The same is true of the church. Not all that is called [c]hurch is the True [C]hurch of Jesus Christ. And thus, also, not all those who call themselves [c]hristian are True [C]hristians. And following the logic of the definitions, thus... Not everything with the label "christianity" is True Biblical [C]hristianity.

Jesus proclaimed that -many- are on the "broad way" leading to "destruction", but those who find Life are the "few". In the day of Judgment -many- "christians" from "christianity" will be calling to Jesus...

"Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many works of power in Your name? And then I will declare to them, I NEVER KNEW YOU; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO WORK OUT LAWLESSNESS!" (Mt7:13-14, 21-23)
You see... something called "christianity" proliferates all over the world. Some with the help of Hinduism learn to empty their minds and become "spirit-filled" (with demons). Some who are called "christians" and even read the Bible, believe they will become gods and goddesses. Some of those, being "spirit-filled", consider themselves to -now- be little 'gods'. They are all "christ". Some who worship the Queen of Heaven, calling themselves the true Mother Church, in worshiping the Queen of Heaven are guilty of what Israel did as their remnants in rebellion against God moved to Egypt. (Jer43-44) This same church worships the sun, and its chief officer claims to be the "vicar" (in the place) of Christ, as he officiates with the round wafer (to the sun), whilst -claiming- to be "re-crucifying" the Son of God. (Heb6:6) If he says something different from the Bible, his word takes precedence. By definition, -an- "antichrist". Not to mention all the so-called "evangelical" groups who fellowship with these just mentioned, when Scripture is clear to "come out from among them and be separate" (2Co6:17) and are preaching a "different gospel" (2Co11:4, Ga1:6) The Bible summarizes Salvation as coming through...
"...repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ" (Ac20:21)
But they proclaim that repentance is not necessary. Just "repeat this prayer" and "sign this card" and "join our church". Anybody show me -any- of these from Scripture! They are trying to come up "some other way" than through the "door". But Jesus said...
"I am the door. If anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep." (Jn10:9-11)
So... getting back to the titular question...

Is Salvation obtained "apart from Christianity"? Obviously: No. Without Christianity, Jesus Christ's namesake, as defined, Salvation is not possible. And Christianity -is- truly the one and -only- TRUE FAITH; and all others are invalid.

HOWEVER, the -label- "christianity" has been hijacked by all the apostasy and demon-worship that proliferates today. If a person is asking about -that- christianity? Then, indeed, Salvation into Jesus Christ is NOT of christianity... as the term is understood and applied by 99.999% of today's world. And indeed, then, as the overtly pagans chide: christianity is not the only credible -religion- in the world. Truly, they ARE -all- of equal merit. They are -all- on the broad way to Destruction. And as they are unifying into one global religion these days, unity in diversity, they will also receive Judgment -together-.

As such then, indeed...

Salvation -is- APART FROM (the world's) Christianity!

So then...

If you cling to the world's counterfeit christianity, you cannot get to Heaven! Salvation is in Jesus Christ, and only Him. God Most High is the ruler of all creation, His "kingdom". He makes the rules, and is the sole arbiter as to -which- FAITH is required to be in His presence, as He clearly has given in His Word, the Scriptures.

Jesus says...

"Therefore whoever shall confess Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father in Heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father in Heaven." (Mt10:32-33)
