" Cultural Christianity? "

"Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here." (Jn18:36)

"For our citizenship is in Heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ" (Php3:20)

As this is being written (November,05) the US has just had mid-term elections. One particular community (Dover,PA) voted, in essence, to remove from its school curriculum the "intelligent design" viewpoint of the earth's and life's origins, by voting to replace all the school board members that hold to that view. On the heels of that, Pat Robertson made the headlines again by issuing a public statement to that community, suggesting: "Don't turn to God if disaster strikes...you just voted God out"

So naturally everybody, from Dover to the national media, have been up in arms over Robertson's comments: We're not godless people by any means; we're good people; most of our community belong to one of the local churches. We want our children to know both sides of the debate; but if people want church in their lives, that should be done outside the school system. After all, the constitution makes a wall of separation between church and state.

Interesting how they want to tear down 'walls' when it involves Biblical doctrine, as compared to their own apostasy; where apostasy wants to infiltrate what few Godly congregations that remain. But when it is a question of God being in a person's life at every level of their pursuits, then they are adamant about keeping the wall in place, to keep God out.

You see why Paul exhorts to "come out from among them and be separate" (2Co6:17) Many stay within the apostasy with the excuse that they want to 'win' the apostates for God. But that -just- ain't gonna happen! They have their walls firmly in place to keep God out; but if you stay, they will keep chipping away, tearing down your wall of holiness to God to infiltrate into your heart with satan's lies and false doctrine, with the purpose to draw you away from God.

The world wants Christians to be "tolerant" of them in all their ways, and dialogue to gain the Believer's acceptance and "fellowship" of their "works of darkness" (Eph5:11); but they do not reciprocate, rather evincing intolerance and often 'rage' in most militant fashions, at anything and everything even 'hinting' at God, His existence and holy absolute righteous standards.

On the other hand, when a president (such as Ronald Reagan) dies, the whole nation, symbolically, goes to church; the funeral is held in the 'National' Cathedral. When President Bush spoke to the nation after 9/11 he continually invoked the name of "God". They don't want God's Ten Commandments anywhere on public display, nor manger scenes to remind them of Jesus' first human advent; but they continually intone to the whole nation over the public media airwaves, "God bless America"; from state of the union speeches to the campaign trail. A person can watch Bob Ross doing a painting on Public TV, and he would always close his show with a little wiggle of his fingers and say, "God bless, my friend". Oprah who these days is into flaunting wealth, promiscuity and feel-good-ism, is also known for talking about "god"; to be in the studio audience or to watch her show, often might as well be a 'religious' experience. American money has "in God we trust" stamped/printed on it. Is there a community anywhere in America that does not have -a- 'church' (uh...'building')? Even Las Vegas has 'chapels'; places where people can go to get their promiscuity 'blessed' by the pronouncement of somebody licensed to do so. When I was a child, after shortly having come to America from Japan where I had grown up, so thus was not familiar with prevailing American ideals, on the school bus one afternoon, sitting next to the fellow who lived on the farm a mile away from where we were living, the subject came up, so I asked him "how" he knew he was a "christian"? His response: "I'm an American". I suspect a lot of British people feel the same way, due to the "Church of England"?

There's a new expression I've been hearing over the past year or two. Perhaps it was around before, but I just didn't notice it?

"Christian world view"

What is that? People who use the expression seem to use it in the context of trying to get legislation enacted that is 'friendly' to Biblical principles, like: right to life, traditional male female marriage unions, intelligent design, sexual abstinence, say "no" to drugs, etc.

It seems to be an expression being used by those who would like to vote "christians" in to office, enact "christian" legislation, and get this country -back- (they say) to the "christian principles" on which it was founded by all those (alleged) "christian" forefathers of our nation. Do they fail to notice all the symbols of paganism and freemasonry that proliferate the capitol building, monuments and currency? Our money may say "in god we trust"; but that expression shares space with the image of the pagan mythological phoenix, including its feathers being numbered according to the occult.

What does God observe about our culture? Does He consider it to be "Christian"?

"The fool has said in his heart, There is no God! They are corrupt; they have done abominable works, there is no one who does good. Jehovah looked down from Heaven upon the sons of men, to see if there were any who understood and sought God. They have all turned aside, together they have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, no, not one." (Ps14:1-3)

When Dover, PA voted out all its "intelligent design" school board members, were they not, as Pat Robertson said, voting God out? The only sort of person who would believe anything besides intelligent (God) design is one who refuses to acknowledge the Most High, the Almighty, and His claim that "In the beginning God created..." (Gen1:1) In essence saying: There is no God! We are all here "by chance"; by a fluke of random (statistically impossible) probabilities.

"The transgression of the wicked declares within my heart: There is no fear of God before his eyes. For he flatters himself in his own eyes, until his iniquity and hate is found. The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit; he has left off acting wisely and doing good. He devises wickedness on his bed; he sets himself in a way that is not good; he does not despise evil." (Ps36:1-4)

Earlier I asked the question: What -is- "Biblical world view"? Let's expand upon that. Is this current evil world, where satan is presently the "ruler of the authority of the air" according to whom the world "walks" (Eph2:2), a place where a "christian world view" is even possible? Who rules the world right now? Satan. (Lk4:5-6) How can anything satan rules be called "Christian"?

Well, there certainly -are- a lot of things with the "christian" label. But is that not satan's disguise and deception! We have repeated this often, but it's been awhile, and for some reason people keep forgetting; so here it is again: "For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder; for Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works." (2Co11:13-15)

A "christian world view" is NOT POSSIBLE at this time! ...and is TOTALLY INAPPROPRIATE! Not until Messiah has "taken [His] great power and reigned" (Rev11:17) and is ruling with "judgment and justice" (Is9:7)

So... what is the True Believing Christian's view? A -HEAVENLY- view!

"...our citizenship is in Heaven..." (Php3:20) And as we work for the Lord as long as we are here, "...the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God for pulling down strongholds," (2Co10:4)

So, what about Dover, PA? What about Pat Robertson's warning to them? There is usually sooo much 'wrong' with what he says and does, but this time he got it right: "Behold, Jehovah’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor is His ear heavy, that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you, that He WILL NOT HEAR. For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue has uttered perverseness. No one calls for justice, nor does anyone plead for truth; they trust in vanity and speak lies. They conceive mischief and bring forth iniquity." (Is59:1-4)

Even if they don't wish to acknowledge the Most High, even though they consider themselves to be 'good' people, and are seen 'in church' every Sunday; it is the 'Wisdom Principle'.

"Wisdom cries aloud outside; she utters her voice in the square... Because I have called, and you refused; I have stretch out my hand, and no one pays attention, but you have ignored all my counsel, and have not desired my reproof: I also will LAUGH AT YOUR CALAMITY, I WILL MOCK when your terror comes; when your terror comes like a storm; and your devastation arrives like a tempest, when distress and anguish come upon you. Then they shall call upon me, and I WILL NOT ANSWER; they shall seek me early, but they shall NOT FIND ME. Because they hated knowledge and chose not the fear of Jehovah. They did not desire my counsel; they despised all my reproof. Therefore they shall eat of the fruit of their own way and be filled with their own devices." (~Pr1:20-31)

As when Solomon dedicates the temple, and asks God to answer people's prayers directed towards the temple (2Ch6:28-31) he does not ask for a 'blanket' favorable Godly response, but says, "then hear from Heaven their prayer and their supplication, and DO WHAT IS FITTING." (vs35)

Culturally, people of the world (including the media) are beginning to utter words to the effect that people "must decide". It's time for society to make a "choice". What sort of nation and society do we want? Which 'side' are you on? (What happened to the hippy era "gray areas"?) You are either 'for' or 'against' ... intelligent design, right to life, gay and marriage issues, etc.

Well... God has been saying that ever since the beginning of creation. Choice regarding the fruit of that 'tree'. (Gen2:17) You have the choice between "life and death, the blessing and the curse. Therefore CHOOSE LIFE, that you...may live" (De30:19)

The world is finally starting to realize the same thing Jesus taught: "No one is able to serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will hold to the one and despise the other. It is not possible to serve God and mammon." (Mt6:24)

Don't take church into school? Such a choice is anti-God. Islam -lives- its beliefs. Their Koran tells them to destroy infidels (non-muslims) wherever they may be found; and that's exactly what we see today in the Jihad bombings and riots in the middle east, Paris, and around the world. They live (and die) what they believe.

After Pat Robertson's comments made such a stir, some where shown on media camera saying strongly: This is the moment to decide. Now is the time.

That is also what God says: "Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation" (2Co6:2) because a time is coming soon where it will be proclaimed: "...the time is at hand. He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still. And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to what his work shall be." (Rev22:10-12)

Joshua challenged Israel: "And if it seems evil to you to serve Jehovah, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers have served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my house, WE WILL SERVE JEHOVAH." (Josh24:15)

Dear Reader: What are you choosing today? WHOM do you serve?
