VW-Edition Downloads: --PCs, PDAs, Mobile phones, U-print

DO NOT Re-Configure these modules for re-distribution nor post them elsewhere [without Permission]

VW-Edition - Online Bible Module:

  1. The Online Bible program should be installed first. (But if it has been running, close it before proceeding) Download (save to your computer) "VW-OLB.EXE" or "VW-OLBun.EXE" (below), and 'run' it to install the VW-edition module. If installation was successful, skip to #3 below, and that should be it.

  2. If #1 was not successful and you need to 'manually' install the translation, use an unzipping utility to extract the "BIBLE.801" file, start up Online Bible, and install the "BIBLE.801" module into it, from the Tools-User Module-Restore/Add Material menu/s. (If you have an older version of OLB you will need to activate your Tools-Customise Settings-User Preferences- Advanced User Mode for this to work) And once installed, don't forget to Select "Bible-VW 2010" from within Library-Selection Preferences.

Important Note: If you are upgrading from a prior VW-edition (2008 or earlier) make sure to delete it first before installing the new (2010) edition. (Tools: Delete Items from Hard drive)

Online Bible FAQs - especially for Vista users

  3. Very important: for the corrected names for "Jacob" and "Judas" to appear properly in the window title bars, make sure that Tools-Customise Settings - User Preferences - Use Standard English Abbreviations in Verse Windows is NOT checked.
Paragraph Marks & OLB: -Officially, the VW-edition was produced with paragraph marks intentionally removed from the text. The way OLB is designed, the paragraph marks are a property of the program, itself, and not the translation module. (They are based on Matthew Henry) Thus, if you install everything defaulting as designed, you will see the paragraph marks in the VW-edition with OLB. However, I have discovered that the paragraph marks can be disabled by deleting or renaming the "paragrap.map" file (the one in OLB's base directory; not your user data sub-directory); and have not yet discovered any problems with the program's functions as a result. If you do this, however, the paragraph marks will also not appear in any of the other translations, either. This suggestion is not an official technical 'bulletin' from Online Bible; it is my own discovery; so if you decide to try it, do so at your own risk. However, as I say, I've had good success for my own use.

VW-Edition - Online Bible 801 Module:

    • "VW-OLB.EXE" - Download OLB Text Module - (1.6Mb)
      VW-Edition for OLB versions 2.0 & older - (2010/06/29)

    • "VW-OLBun.EXE" - Download OLB Text Module - (1.6Mb)
      VW-Edition for OLB versions 2.0, 3.0, 'unicode' - (2010/08/08)

IMPORTANT: Be sure to download the correct file for your OLB version.
2.xx can use either file, but 1.xx cannot use "OLB'un'.exe", nor will 3.0 and the newest 'unicode' use the older "OLB.exe" file format. Both modules are named "BIBLE.801", but they are different according to the OLB version.

VW-Edition - PDF file:

    • "BIBLE-VW.PDF" - Download PDF File - (3.6Mb)
      VW-Edition PDF File (8.5x11) - (June, 2010)

    • "6x9-VW.PDF" - Download PDF File - (3.8Mb)
      VW-Edition PDF File (6x9) - (June, 2010)
NOTE: Right-click the "Download" icon and "save target as" to save without opening.

Suggested uses: - Both PDF files are offered, similar to the 2-column files that publish the printed edition. Here it is suggested that the 8.5x11 can be used for self-printing to 8.5x11 paper with your own printer. The 6x9 is also offered if you have special needs. For your PDF-compatible e-reader, the single column PDF file is recommended.

Suggestion for printing: - If you first print all 'odd' page numbers, keeping the pile in-tact as it comes out the printer, then simply turn the pile over and print the 'even' pages. Once finished, barring difficulties along the way (to replenish ink, the printer grabbed more than 1 page, etc), the pages should all be in order.

Many quick-print/copy businesses can digitally print (from this PDF file), collate and 3-hole punch the pages for less than the cost of ink refills. And then use the 3-ring binder suggestion which follows.

Suggestion for binding: - If you use standard copier/printer paper, the collection should 'just' fit into a 1 1/2 inch "D" type loose-leaf binder.

Bare Bones: Bible+ ver 3.00 - (English w/out Heb/Grk or skins)

VW-Edition - OliveTree BibleR+ for Palm & Windows OS:

    • "VW-OLIVE.ZIP" - Download Olive Tree file - (967Kb)
      VW-Edition file for Palm (OliveTree "BibleR+") - (2006)
Installation: - Unzip the contents of this file into the directory from where you install your Palm software, and follow the installation instructions for your PDA

Note: - due to a formatting issue, the epistle of Jacob is not labeled correctly, and searches must be done with the traditional "James" (Jam)

Special Notice: - This Olive Tree module does not contain the 2006, 2008, 2010 updates. Based on their lack of correspondence I have been left to presume they don't wish to support the vw-edition for their software. Thus, I have also removed the link to their website. Besides which, for the Palm PDA, the "PalmBible +" (above) is a better program anyway... a lot 'faster' and more user friendly and configurable.

They are NOT cross-compatible. If you're not sure what yours is, click "Help : About"

Installation: - Unzip the contents of this file into the directory where your e-Sword is installed, and re-start your e-Sword program

Note: - due to e-Sword's design the epistles of Jacob and Judas are not labeled correctly, and searches must be done with the traditional "James" and "Jude", respectively.

VW-Edition - TheWord - Zefania XML:

    • "VW-WORD.zip" - Download TheWord file - (1.3Mb)
      VW-Edition module for TheWord - (June, 2010)
Installation: - Once you've unzipped this file in some temporary location, please read "vwreadme.txt" for installation and configuration instructions.

Note: - due to TheWord's design the epistles of Jacob and Judas are not labeled correctly, and searches must be done with the traditional "James" and "Jude", respectively.

VW-Edition - Zefania XML:

    • "VW-MY.ZIP" - Download MyBible collection - (1.3Mb)
      VW-Edition XML w/out Jacob/Judas subtitles - (June, 2010)
Search directly with "Jacob" & "Judas"
    • "VW-WORD.ZIP" - Download TheWord collection - (1.3Mb)
      VW-Edition XML with Jacob/Judas subtitles - (June, 2010)
Search with James (Jacob) & Jude (Judas)

Explanation: - The Zefania XML format seems to be a format that various software designers are using. Some programs use it directly, others will "import" it into their own proprietary format. Two versions are offered here: One for those programs that allow translation-unique book names to appear correctly on the title bars (or where "standard" or "default" abbreviations/names can be disabled); and one for those where Jacob and Judas will not appear correctly, having a special header-subtitle for the purpose.

Caution: - If you find other postings of the VW-edition in "Zefania XML" listings, they may or may not be current, or accurate. There seems to be a tendency out there to post without permission, and to make little changes as suits their whims. What is offered above here is authenticated by VW as being textually correct.

VW-Edition - PDA-friendly:

    • "PDA" - [Menu] - (June, 2010)

    • "VW-PDA.ZIP" - Download PDA-friendly collection - (2.1Mb)
      VW-Edition PDA-friendly HTML files - (August, 2010)

Description: - Online files for those with wireless internet access, designed specifically for smaller PDA screens, and each chapter is its own file for smaller memory requirements. So far it has been tested and works with Blackberry, Opera "mini" browser, Palm Treo, iPad, iPhone. If you click on it with a regular computer browser it is not very 'pretty', but was requested by/for PDA users. Hopefully the format is universal enough to work with many different 'small' platforms.

Installation: - For PDA devices that can store/read html (such as EZ-reader), unzip this file into a dedicated directory/folder you create for it. The files should recurse themselves into subdirectories. And then point your browser/reader to the "index.htm" file.

Note: - The "Menu" link is for 'online' viewing. The ".zip" file is not a program or module for any particular PDA or PDA format... it is a -collection- of the html files, for those devices where the user can create directories into which to unzip and store them. Once unzipped, they are designed to behave just like the files under the "Menu" link. Not all PDAs are likely capable of this.

iPhone: - for iPhone please use the "eReader files"
